From the vantage point of a passenger in a car speeding down a highway, “From One Minute on April 29th, 2009” is a set of consecutive digital pictures. The series contrasts old and new media (digital camera and woodcut); fast and slow (the speed of the highway and the slow carving process); a blurry subject and a crisp medium; natural and man made elements; literal representation and gestural abstraction. “From One Minute on April 29th, 2009” expands the single initial moment into the 6 year process of developing the images into their final form, and viewed as one recompresses that time back to a single moment. The set captures speed and motion while compressing trees and high tension power lines into a single plane.
