Screenprints

Made by pushing ink through a stencil, screen prints are iconic for their flat and bright pop colors. Each color layer is printed one at a time, requiring its own screen and stencil.  At Overpass Projects we create limited edition fine screen prints using digital photo process as well as prints from color separations painted by hand.

Etching

The artist draws the image onto a copper plate using acid (etching) or his muscle and steel tools (drypoint).

Photogravure

The antique photographic process of photogravure allows the artist to develop tonal images into the copper plate resulting in exquisitely subtle and detailed prints.

Relief Prints

Relief prints include woodcuts and linoleum cuts. The artist starts with a flat panel of wood or linoleum. He carves into the surface with various knives and chisels. Ink is rolled onto the remaining level surface of the wood, and this is pressed onto paper to make a print. Whatever the woodcut artist carves out of the block will be white, and whatever the artist leaves behind will be black.
